We have just completed the first weekend of shooting. A Weekend in St Gallen, by Lake Constance. Lots of early mornings and late night sharing beers and stories about Hunting. Jennifer, the main subject of the story took us in, showed us her home and introduced us to her family. Johannes and Arin. They are all very happy to be included in the documentary, which is a lot more than I hoped for.
On the first day we arrived at Jennifer's cosy home about 8:00 am and we took her two dogs for a long walk, into the woods and across a long windy stream. It was a beautiful morning and the sun was piercing through the trees. Horrible for cameras exposure but perfect for everything else.
The Dogs, Silence (Weimaraner) and Duke (German Short Hair) are amazing hunting dogs and are trained, by Jennifer and Johannes, regularly. However they do misbehave and they were definitely showing off in front of the cameras.
The direction of the documentary is still not certain, and Im still not decided on what I want to say. Maybe a story will be revealed. We are heading back in early Summer, April, to meet with Jennifer again. She will be sitting her hunting exams and we'll get to see Saint Gallen in a sunnier climate.
